Baypoint Post-16 Education

Sports Connect and Baypoint are jointly offering a fully inclusive post-16 sports education programme focusing on three core areas of Education, Participation and Employment.

Baypoint Club

With the excellent indoor and outdoor facilities at Baypoint Club, Sports Connect offers every young person aged 16-24 (19-24 for those who have an EHCP) a highly inclusive and individualised FULL TIME Sports Education Programme.

Sports Participation

The importance of active participation in varying sports and activities is so important and establishes major health benefits. This enables improvements in physical and mental health as well as important transferable skills such as effective leadership, communication and positive socialisation whilst learning from coaches, tutors, personal trainers and other key staff members and support staff.

The programme is focused on the following four key participation areas:

  • Football

  • Basketball

  • Multi Sports such as pickle ball, dodgeball, cricket, badminton, rounders

  • Gym based programme

Education Pathway

The education offer is something of paramount importance and will always be the major focus of the

programme. Sports Connect is an approved NCFE and 1st4Sport recognised centre which enables us to offer academic qualifications and industry relevant coaching qualifications plus English and Mathematics where required.

Student will study:

  • NCFE Level 1, 2 or Level 3 in Sport & Physical Activity (Recognised qualification with accredited UCAS tariff Points)

  • City & Guilds Functional Skills English and Maths (*if required)

  • Sports Coaching Qualifications (1st4sport L1 Activator, FA Playmaker *if desired)

  • Additional qualifications (Level 1 Mental Health Awareness/Mentoring, Emergency First Aid *if desired)

    We require no entry requirements for our courses, just a passion for sport and will suitably assign students onto programme to meet their academic requirements

Employment Pathway

The employment aspect of our offer enables students to access work-placements and industry relevant qualifications alongside their core sports studies in the following areas:-

  • Personal Training ​

  • Sports Coaching

  • Performance Analysis

  • Citation (manual handling, COSHH, Health & Safety, Fire Safety)

  • Grounds and Facility Management

  • Food hygiene and catering

  • Leisure administration

In addition to these qualifications, our informal curriculum encompasses the “Yes Project” content, which emphasises sports and community engagement.
