Supporting Our Students
We work closely with Kent County Council offering provision for students with Special Educational Needs. We also work closely with JACE Training and KCC offering provision for mainstream students and for students with higher needs.
We have an extremely positive and proactive relationship with KCC in supporting higher needs students.
All students will be taught by subject specialist qualified and experienced lecturers helped by learning support staff operating to an effective staff to student ratio of working in small groups with close support and offering one to one support where required and effective pastoral support through designated personal mentors.
Where necessary English and Mathematics will be delivered through functional skills qualifications to those who have not achieved GCSE 4 or above. Those that have achieved English, and Mathematics will have it embedded into their core sports qualification.
Educational Programmes
As an Approved NCFE Centre, the academic curriculum offers 16–24-year-olds (19-24 with an EHCP) a NCFE qualification in sport ranging from entry level up to level three dependant on the students’ academic grade on entry at both K Sports Cobdown and Baypoint Club, Sandwich.
Depending on each individual students’ needs will depend on the length and level of study, however a three-year programme is available, and we have no grade entry requirements to access our education programmes.
Relevant work placement will be arranged with local sports partners based on everyone’s future work aspirations. Examples of this is where some of our students will support primary school sport events, local sports clubs, football clubs and sports organisations.
We have been recognised by NCFE based on our external checks for our quality in teaching, learning and assessment and have high success rates for out students. Some of our previous students have ventured onto university in England and America and some venturing into primary school sport-based apprenticeships within our network.
